If you're not gonna dance, get your ass off the floor

Feb 25, 2009

I'm waiting for super good Murder City Devils photos to be uploaded (a friend flew out from Austin to see them and took a TON of great shots at the show) so I can steal them and post them here, but until then you get stuck with the one that I managed:

I only managed one photo, because, uh, I only took one. I was too busy having fun and dancing my ass off and trying not to get knocked over and wondering how many new bruises I'd have in the morning.

(Five.)

During the show, this was uploaded to the MCD twitter stream (shut up, they are too still rock and roll):

The show was one of the few experiences where I've genuinely enjoyed the collective energy of a crowd (since normally I kinda hate big groups as they are more likely to contain these people called 'assholes') and I can't imagine wanting to be anywhere else than smack dab in the sweaty, raucous middle of it all, right next to (and fuck, I mean right next to; I inadvertently touched balls, people) perfect strangers and good friends alike. Everyone was singing along, dancing or something which slightly resembled dancing, crowd surfing, and rocking the fuck out. And I was lucky enough to get to do it again, the next night.

Next stop, Coachella.

For readers who aren't into the Murder City Devils (WHY DO YOU EVEN COME HERE?! Ha, no, I kid, I love you all. But you non MCD people significantly less.) I should return to regularly scheduled posting (more exciting apartment painting! a kitty! Maybe a paint-covered kitty! I may or may not have gotten drunk sometime this week!) later this week.

LUCKY YOU.

I would like some more vacation now, pretty please

MCD was badass, rad times were had, and there will be pictures from (and maybe even words about!) The Week of Awesome forthcoming eventually sometime maybe.

Cheers.

Rejoice! We made the right choice!

I'm ready for the good part

Feb 15, 2009

It's been a busy week, what with painting the living room the exact shade of Slimer (turns out 'midori' does NOT mean 'lovely jade-colored alcohol', but 'green' in Japanese. And apparently 'green' means 'holy fucking shit, my walls look like special-effect radioactive waste and I am not even kidding, it GLOWS!' to the good people at Behr. Live and learn!), going out like a fiend, and watching a childhood friend karate kick her way through 'Kung Fu Fighting' (she's both a former Miss Teen Long Beach and a some crazy degree black belt) at her wedding on Valentine's Day.

Also, this coming week my most favorite band in the whole wide world is coming to town, so I took the day after the show off...and then thought better of it and took the whole week off. Cause that's how I do.

Because of this, I likely won't be posting much here for the next week or so, but since I'm attached at the hip with my iPhone, I'll still be updating over at twitter. And I'll go ahead and apologize now for all of the "OMG MCD is like the bestest ever!!!1!!"-esque tweets that will likely be popping up. (But they are.)

Girly drink drunk

Are you guys sick of me gushing about how rad my roomie is yet? Sorry! But...uh, she is. We had talked about painting the apartment for awhile now, and so far the most effort I've put into it has been to bring home library books (from my work, at that) about decorating, paint colors, and the like. And then today I got this message:

(she's white, I'm green)

now, he just has to paint it for us

Hopefully this will go better than when I painted my bedroom. But since this time I'll have her help, I have no doubt it will go much smoother. Not so much the extra set of hands, but more likely because she'll tell me that NO, it is not a good idea to let the cat anywhere near the paint tray, YOU BIG DUMMY. Only nicer. Because she cares.

Cheers!

Awesome? Or an indication of a problem (or several)?

Feb 1, 2009

I'm gonna go ahead and say awesome.

yes...awesome

I am so, so happy living downtown(ish) with my devastatingly bitchin' roomie and being closer to the raddest circle of friends a girl could have...who are all mostly responsible for what you see, above.

Things are good in the hood, kids.

Cheers!
